Assistance Obtaining Bids

The most important issue of obtaining bids from contractors is to have a complete set of Construction Drawings. Every contractor bidding on your project should be bidding from from the same information. This should also include the quality of components to be used. Toilets for example can range in price from $75.00 to over $1,500.00. Cabinetry can also vary greatly in price as well as the price of doors, windows, flooring and almost everything else in the house that can be seen or touched.

Some contractors try to handle the component cost discrepancy by giving material allowances. If the contractor wants to quote medium quality cabinetry and you want high end cabinetry, the contractor may give you an allowance for the cost of the cabinetry normally used and add on at a later date the cost of the cabinetry that is actually used. The only problem with this is that other contractors would be bidding on the high end cabinetry that you actually wanted. For bid purposes, all components should be specified. We can specify all of the desired components and help you sort through the bids to help make sure that all bids are made on an even keel.
